Be careful trading with Kobo!!!

April 29, 2011 2 comments

This is an old post. Please go to this page for the current list!!!!

An army member of mine just made a mistake we all need to watch out for: he accidentally traded his Alpha Bahamut Artifact at Kobo’s Goblin Emporium. Ouch! I feel his pain, I traded a Volcanic Crystal once…

For anyone not sure what Kobo’s Goblin Emporium is about see the Wikia entry.

With the new Giants its even more important to watch out. Each of the giants drop an alchemy item that can be traded with Kobo, but you would NEVER want to do that!!!

Here is a list of some of the items I can think of that should never be traded with Kobo. They are all drops from monsters (not gifts) and are used to create good gear. Some of these might not show up in Kobo, but I’m including them because they meet the requirements for being allowed in the Emporium (no stats).

Volcanic Crystals
Dropped by some Next Gen Monsters.
Used to create the soldier Bahamut, the Volcanic Dragon.

Alpha Bahamut Artifact
Dropped by Alpha Mephi and Azriel.
Used to create the amulet. Transcendence.

Nether Soulstone
Dropped by WoRP.
Used to create the glove Soul Crusher.

Hellstone
Dropped by Alpha Mephi.
Used to create the weapon Soulforge.

Rune of Fire
Dropped by Gehenna.
Used to create the helmet Crown of Flames.

Rune of Flame
Dropped by Gehenna.
Used to create the helmet Crown of Flames.

Emblem of Keira
Dropped by Army of the Apocalypse
Used to create Signet of Keira

Emblem of Lotus
Droped by Army of the Apocalypse
Used to create the Signet of Lotus

Emblem of Sylvana
Dropped by Army of the APocalypse
Used to create the Signet of Sylvana

Emblem of Azriel
Dropped by Army of the Apocalypse
Used to create the Signet of Azriel

Valhalla Dust
Dropped by Valhalla
Used to create the Essence of Valhalla and Hand of Valhalla.

Essence of Valhalla
Dropped by Valhalla (or created via alchemy).
Used to create Stormbringer.

Life Force
Dropped by Jahanna
Used to create the Force of Nature.

Soul of Agamemnon
Dropped by Agamemnon (Summoner)
Used to create the Aegis of Kings

Rune of Agamemnon
Dropped by Agememnon
Used to create the Aegis of Kings

Rune of Life
Dropped by Aurora
Used to create Heart of the Woods

Storm Essence
Dropped by Kromash
Used to create Giant alchemy recipes.

Mountain Core
Dropped by Shardros
Used to create Giant alchemy recipes.

Heart of Ice
Dropped by Glacius
Used to create Giant alchemy recipes.

Lava Flask
Dropped by Magmos
Used to create Giant alchemy recipes.

Arcane Energy
Dropped by Ambrosia
Used to create the Helm of Arcane Energies.

Crystallized Arcane
Dropped by Ambrosia
Used to create the Helm of Arcane Energies.

The list above is as complete as I can figure out. Just remember, DON”T trade any of these items. They have value greater than most of the junk Kobo gives out!

This alchemy recipe takes components from each of the 4 Giants. They are all Epic Chance drops. Here is what you need from each Giant:

Kromash, The Storm Giant: 4 Storm Essences

Here is the loot available for each Shardros, the Mountain Giant, plus any new alchemy specific to this monster:

Shardros, the Mountain Giant

Epic Chance Drops

Stone Plate

Armor, 16/16

Magic, 18/16, This is the #10 best attack magic.

Stonebreaker

This is a nice weapon, but I will save my Mountain Cores for the better multi-giant alchemy recipes.

Alchemy Recipe: Create Aegis of Stone

This alchemy recipe takes components from each of the 4 Giants. They are all Epic Chance drops. Here is what you need from each Giant:

Kromash, The Storm Giant: 8 Storm Essences

Shardros, the Mountain Giant: 12 Mountain Cores

Glacius, the Frost Giant: 6 Hearts of Ice

The above ingredients will combine to create the Aegis of Stone.

Aegis of Stone

Defense: 40

The Aegis of Stone is now the 3rd best Attack shield & 3rd best Defense shield.

Shadros is definitely a good place to farm items if you aren’t looking to invest a lot of stamina but still get pretty good loot. The Aegis of Stone is a must get if you don’t have the Sword of Redemption or Aegis of Kings.

Loot and Alchemy Recipes Available from Kromash, the Storm Giant!

April 28, 2011 2 comments

With the release of the Mystery Symbol Gifts CA  has released 4 new monsters. These 4 monsters are all Giants; each of which has unique Epic and Rare chance drops.

Each monster also has 2 alchemy recipes. One recipe is created using ingredients from only that monster. Plus each monster has an alchemy recipe using alchemy ingredients from all 4 monsters (just in varying amounts for each monster).

Here is the loot available for each Kromash, the Storm Giant, plus any new alchemy specific to this monster:

Kromash, the Storm Giant

Epic Chance Drops

Storm Buckler

Shield (offhand), 8/11, Ingredient to Shield of Storms alchemy recipe.

Empowering Storm

Magic, 9/10

Storm Essence

Alchemy, Ingredient to Shield of Storms alchemy recipe, ingredient to the 4 multi-giant alchemy recipes.

Rare Chance Drops

Kromash Karapace

Armor, 9/12

Kromash Krown

Helmet, 9/9

Kromash Krusher

Glove, 8/8

Alchemy Recipe: Create Shield of Storms

This alchemy recipe takes 8 Storm Essences (Epic Drop) and 1 Storm Buckler (Epic Drop) to create the Shield of Storms.

Shield of Storms

Shield (offhand), 13/14, it’s not a top 10 item, would probably save my Storm Essences for the other multi-giant alchemy recipes.

Alchemy Recipe: Create Hammer of Storms

This alchemy recipe takes components from each of the 4 Giants. They are all Epic Chance drops. Here is what you need from each Giant:

Kromash, The Storm Giant: 10 Storm Essences

Shardros, the Mountain Giant: 6 Mountain Cores

Glacius, the Frost Giant: 5 Hearts of Ice

Magmos, the Lava Giant: 5 Lava Flasks

The above ingredients will combine to create the Hammer of Storms.

Hammer of Storms

Type: Weapon
Attack: 36
Defense: 32
Attack Power: 58.4
Defense Power: 57.2
Divine Power: 40

The Hammer of Storms is now the 5th best Attack weapon & 4th best Defense weapon. This may be a good divine items to go after since Kromash should be easier to farm epic drops from than the other giants.

Divine Items required on new Monsters

April 27, 2011 12 comments

I just had someone as ask a good question: “Why does it show Magmos is preventing some of my damage?”.  The answer for this is because the newer monsters are now equipped with Divine Armor (I think Jahanna was the first). This Divine Armor will reduce the damage taken for the monster by a certain percentage. For Magmos the damage is reduced by 40%!!!

The current monsters that have Divine Armor are:

  • Jahanna: 10% resistance
  • Aurora: 40% resistance
  • Glacius: 30% resistance
  • Magmost: 40% resistance

To combat the Divine Armor you must get Divine Items. You can see if you have any Divine Items by going into your keep. They will show up just under your battle stats and look similar to this:

Each divine item will have a rating. When you mouse-over a divine item it will show the Divine Power rating. For my items shown above they each have a Divine Power rating of 10.

The ‘gotcha’ here is that you can only have 1 item per item slot. CA will automatically choose your best Divine Items just like it does your regular items during battle (it won’t show what divine items you have equipped, but doing the math it has been confirmed to work ‘behind the scenes). The seven item types for monster battles are:

  • Weapon
  • Off-hand
  • Helmet
  • Armor
  • Amulet
  • Spell
  • Glove

At the time of this post I don’t think there are any Divine Items of type helmet or glove. The Divine Power of all your equipped Divine Items will add up to become your Effective Divine Power (EDP). The higher your EDP is, the more the monsters Divine Armor will be reduced (it will block less damage).

Now going back to my items above. I have two Divine Items of type Armor. Due to that CA will only choose 1 of them. Since they both have a Divine Power rating of 10 it really doesn’t matter which.

The other two items I have are amulets. That means of the 4 Divine Items I own only 2 will be used in my Effective Divine Power (EDP) rating; which is equal to 20 (10 for the armor and 10 for the amulet).

There are some Divine items available for other item types. For the possible Divine Items available see the CA Wikia post on Divine Items.

It’s also worth noting that monsters with a Dark Rage meter will increase your EDP by 40% when full.

If you get your EDP to a certain rating you will completely pierce through the monsters Divine Armor. For Magmos that would require an EDP of 180. My 20 EDP falls well short of that!!

I’m guessing Divine Armor will be the new norm on forthcoming higher end monsters. Of the 4 new giants, the two bigger ones have divine armor.

New Mystery Symbol Gift brings the Giants!

April 24, 2011 7 comments

Two days ago the CA devs released a new gift: Mystery Symbol Gift (been a busy weekend, falling behind)! The last gift was released just a week before as the Mystery Shield Gift. No gifts appear to be knocked off the list with this new gift.

This gift has been released alongside the new Giant monster battles. The gifts are actually four different symbols that work exactly like the Serpent Eggs. Each symbol will summon a different Giant. I will do a separate post looking at the loot available from the Giants. Here is an overview of the alchemy part:

Storm Symbol

Summon Kromash, the Storm Giant

Player level to summon: 81-121

Mountain Symbol

Summon Shardros, the Mountain Giant

Player level to summon: 121-299

Frost Symbol

Summon Glacius, the Frost Giant

Player level to summon: 121-299

Lava Symbol

Summon Magmos, the Lava Giant

Player level to summon: 300+

To summon you can either go to Keep > Alchemy > and click “Combine” for the monster you wish; or you can go to “Monsters” > “Summon Monsters” > and click “Summon” for the monster you wish to battle.

I will be doing a separate post looking at what you can get out of these. All I’ll say is I like this gift because I can use the components for trading with Kobo in the Emporium.
