Words from a CA dev on Guild Battles

September 30, 2010 5 comments

There have been a LOT of posts on the CA forum with Guild Battle issues. A couple days ago I posted their response on twitter, but not on the CA forum. Below are some responses from a dev in the CA Forum, to see the whole thread it is located here and the posts specific to the developer are here.

I think its good they are starting to communicate more. My advice for the CA devs: “IMPLEMENT A CHANGELOG!!!”. It doesn’t even have to be fancy. Even a simple list of vague things done during each update would do a lot to show more communication.

I do wish the developer gave more details than “take longer than anticipated”. But its something at least.

New Gift: Mystery Life Gift!

September 30, 2010 2 comments

Wow, the Devs are working overtime putting out new mystery gifts, it’s been less than a week since the Limited Cid Gift was released and now there is a new one: Mystery Life Gift! I didn’t notice anything knocked off the list with the release of this gift. That makes 29 possible gifts as the current total!

There are 3 components to this gift. The components are called: Ancient Parchment, Elven Fern, and the Elixir of Life. All three components are “pure alchemy” items, thus they can all be used in the Goblin Emporium. 2 of each component is required to perform alchemy. To combine the shards go to “Alchemy” > “Recipes” and click “Combine”.

Once the components are combined it will create the Silverlight Tome!

Silverlight Tome will show up in your inventory in the town under Blacksmith. It has Attack of 3 and a Defense of 8. It has an attack power of 8.6 and defense power of 10.1. It counts as an item type of Shield (I would have figured magic).

When equipped to Elizabeth Lione the helm will increase her defense by 3. Elizabeth’s other equipped item the Ring of Life gives +3 to energy (it was originally called the Lion Set and is no longer available as a gift). Of the free generals she really isn’t that bad, and this increases her defense to 18. Higher level characters probably won’t care about this, but lower level characters should be happy to have this added to Elizabeth Lione.

For those who do not have the Commanders Battle Plate as their weakest invasion “Item”, this gift may be useful. Since my current items are much stronger than this I have created one for equipping to Elizabeth, and the rest will be used as Kobo Kibble!

CA devs are addressing Guild issues

September 28, 2010 3 comments

Last night the CA devs sent the following tweet out:

This was in response to the following tweets directed at CastleAgeGame from the above named twitter accounts:

  • It’s really hard to search a big guild to fight.
  • Guild battles are super fun! I just wish the battle lists would allow guilds with similar numbers to attack each other.
  • so obviously people are already circumventing the battle lists, is it ok to direct link? (we do not get options above 50)
  • hey guys, please take a look at the forums.even the moderators are creating threads about uneven battle lists.cheats admitted
  • Please, do something about these terrible guild battle lists.
  • We know some of the top guilds are using exploits, but we are suffering because we refuse to. That’s a really dumb system.

As one of the tweets mentioned the battle list has become a huge contention point. Finding the right sized opponent appears to be the biggest reported problem.

I think guilds using URL manipulation is the problem the CA devs will go after. It is possible to target a guild for battle without using the battle list. This is a great way to pick battles that you know you can and get a lot of points from. Or use a bunch of ‘alternate’ small guilds and keep attacking the main guild, this would create a lot of defensive wins.

I won’t post here how to do this cheat. But I will say this goes against the CA terms of service and it could mean your account getting disabled if caught doing this.

Personally I think the biggest problem with Guild Battles is the cooldown timer. It really is too short, and a lot of people are missing out on rewards.

One last note, having posted this news doesn’t mean I believe it……..  The CA devs don’t have a good bug fixing track record.

New Monster Achievement: Aurelius, Lion’s Rebellion

September 28, 2010 Leave a comment

With the release of the new battle Lion’s Rebellion there is a new monster achievement: Aurelius, Lion’s Rebellion.

Completing the Lion’s Rebellion 5 times with at least 1,000,000 damage (attack plus defend) will complete this achievement. 1,000,000 damage is equivalent to 1,000 soldiers killed when in the battle. The reward is 5 FP’s, a pretty darn good reward for something most people will do anyhow.

New Battle: Lion’s Rebellion

September 28, 2010 4 comments

The “boss” fight for the new Earth II Realm has been released. This fight is actually battle called Lion’s Rebellion. Here is the announcement released with this new battle:

The winds of change are coming. Forces will come to a head. Which side will you choose during the Lion’s Rebellion?

To summon this battle you must get the Orb of Aurelius from the special mission in Earth II. Once you have the Orb simply go to Monsters > Summon Monsters. The Lion’s Rebellion will show up in the Level 121-299 tier. It also counts as a monster type “Boss”.

You can also summon it from the Alchemy page, but honestly I rarely go here to summon monsters:

Basically this battle appears to be an upgraded version of the War of the Red Plains, including the use of tactics. As with all of the new NG monsters/battles you have to choose a class. I have also seen a report that Aurelius shows up as an epic general on the opposing side when using Tactics (this is unconfirmed). I was actually hoping this would be a new Alchemy General to be released with this battle, but that does not appear to be the case.

There are new loot drops available with this battle. Here is the info I have on the loot:

  • Legendary Loot:
    • Heart of the Pride 20/44 – Shield
    • Lion Scar Plate 33/18 – Armor
    • Flame Invoker 55/45 – Unit
    • Crystals: Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, Emerald
  • Epic Loot:
    • Lion Fang 24/22 – Weapon
    • Lion Scar Helm 9/14 – Helm
    • Serpentine Ring 20/21 – Amulet
    • Caldonian Band 10/14 – Amulet
    • Orc Champion 50/50 – Unit
  • Rare Loot:
    • Caldonian Blade 13/16 – Weapon
    • Rogue Assassin 34/24 – Unit
    • Mark of the Empire 12/12 – Amulet
    • Zenarian Bow 14/18 – Weapon
    • Aracanist 23/20 – Unit
    • Hellkite Minion 32/27 – Unit
    • Gladiator 35/24

There is actually some pretty good farm-able loot here! Here is a look at the new Legendary loot:

Heart of the Pride
Shield
Attack: 20
Defense: 44
Attack Power: 50.8
Defense Power:  58
This will become the third most powerful attack shield/offhand item, behind SoR and Purgatory. This will become the second most powerful defense shield/offhand item, behind the SoR. Very worth getting at least 3 of these (for War).

Lion Scar Plate
Armor
Attack: 33
Defense: 18
Attack Power: 45.6
Defense Power:  41.1
This will become the second most powerful attack and defense armor, behind the Plate of Ages. Very worth getting at least 3 of these (for War).

That is about all the info I have on this battle. For more info see the CA Wikia entry for this battle or the CA Forum. I will post more if I find more info worth posting.

New Quest Realm: Earth II

September 28, 2010 Leave a comment

The CA devs have released a new Quest Realm: Earth II. This realm can only be unlocked after completing the Ivory City, including the special mission where you get the orb for Alpha Mephistopheles. Along side this there is a new boss fight released: Lion’s Rebellion.

The CA Wikia has a page up for the new Earth II Realm. Since this realm is new there isn’t much on the page yet (at the time of this post). From the Wikia I can see there are 8 main quests, with 2 subquests each (more SP farming!). There is also a special mission at the end which drops the Orb of Aurelius. The orb is used to summon Lion’s Rebellion.

There are no new units released with this Realm, however you will need more Obsidian Gear. Here is a list showing the unit/equipment requirements for this new realm (info taken from the CA Forum):

  • 42 Obsidian Helmet (Previously 40)
  • 35 Obsidian Armor (Previously 30)
  • 38 Obsidian Sword (Previously 22)
  • 15 Platinum Knight (Previously 7)
  • 45 Obsidian Amulet (Previously 32)
  • 43 Obsidian Shield (Previously 34)

I also see someone post it took them just over 200 Billion Gold to buy the additional items for this realm. So yeah, it’s not cheap!

If I get more worthy info I’ll post it on the blog, but otherwise have fun questing!

New Gift: Limited Cid Gift!

September 26, 2010 1 comment

Its been a week since the CA devs have released the Mystery Shadow Gift and they have already released a new one: Limited Cid Gift! There was no announcement with this release. At a quick glance this gift does not appear to knock any other gifts off the list. This was released alongside the new FP general Elora.

There are 3 components to this gift. The components are called: Lead Ore, Anvil, and the Ancient Symbol. All three components are “pure alchemy” items, thus they can all be used in the Goblin Emporium. 2 of each component is required to perform alchemy. To combine the shards go to “Alchemy” > “Recipes” and click “Combine”.

Once the components are combined it will create the Cid Helm!

Cid Helm will show up in your inventory in the town under Blacksmith. It has Attack of 3 and a Defense of 7. It has an attack power of 7.9 and defense power of 9.1.

When equipped to Cid the helm will increase Cid’s defense by 3. Cid’s other equipped item the Saber Shard gives him +2 to attack. Even with these 2 weapons I will stick with Scarlett for increasing my income, Cid really has no value to me.

For those who do not have the Commanders Battle Plate as their weakest invasion “Item”, this gift may be useful. Since my current items are much stronger than this I have created one for equipping to Cid, and the rest will be used as Kobo Kibble!
